About me

I am an artist who specializes in oil painting.

My goal is to preserve light, color and form, while also adding my own touch to reality.

I started attending an art school at the age of 7 and have been taught art under the guidance of professionals for 13 years in total since then.

Art was always a part of my life, ever since childhood.

There were many obstacles in the creative process. But it is overcoming them that helped me to grow as an artist over these years.

I’ve worked with different techniques and materials. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses.
Personally I prefer oil paints because of the freedom they give when it comes to manipulating colors or values.
But I also enjoy watercolors and ink pen drawing.

My style falls somewhere under the impressionism umbrella. It’s a pretty broad category but it’s not easy to categorize yourself like that as everyone’s style is unique.

Ideas in my head usually need some time to “boil”.
I might have a desired format/size in mind. What colors should be dominant, the lighting type or if the shapes will be soft or sharp in the painting.

But to determine what exactly should be on that painting, I need to look for inspiration.

The search for the subject can take a while.
Sometimes it just clicks but not always. And when it does, it’s actually a great feeling, like the dots are finally connected.

Obviously when working on a commission it’s a little bit different and I always try my best to understand and materialize another person’s vision (while staying true to my style).

Being critical of my work is an essential part of the way I create.
It’s better to leave doubts in the process rather than be reminded of them every time you look at your painting.
And the funny thing is, it’s almost never something that people would actually notice that stops you from finishing the painting. But these steps are necessary for my own peace of mind.
